Travelmaker Kai Talks | PopPlus Brazil

rptnb

Last weekend I headed over to PopPlus – a popup space for independent labels promoting ‘plus size’ clothing and culture that takes place in in São Paulo four times a year; March, June, September and December. Founded by journalist, press officer and DJ, Flávia Durante, its first edition was in December 2012 with 9 exhibitors. To date, the event continues to grow attracting thousands of visitors.

Here’s proof that high street stores are missing out on catering to a demand for plus size clothing ranges…

What to expect

Fashion: the best plus size fashion currently being produced in Brazil in just one place!

Dance: dance performances, drag queens, DJs and art exhibitions to liven up your shopping afternoons!

Self Esteem: A space to celebrate diverse bodies and break boundaries!

Great vibe: find your tribe amongst others championing ‘fat body’ positivity, and allies

I shared some thoughts from my visit in the latest #TravelmakerKaiTalks episode.

At the core of Pop Plus creates creates a dialogue that goes beyond fashion; identity, dignity, diversity, representativeness, strengthening of female entrepreneurship, pursuit of self-esteem and respect for others.
